Dr. Michael Thwing is a board-certified pediatrician. He grew up in the Rocky Mountains of Canada and received his undergraduate degree from Bowdoin College, Maine and his medical degree from Pennsylvania State College of Medicine. He completed his pediatric residency at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii in 2006. Dr. Thwing had his initial pediatric experience as a Major in the US army and spent a year as a combat doctor during the Iraq War in 2008. He has practiced in Alaska, Vermont and most recently in the country of Denmark where he worked as a Pediatric Hospitalist and Consultant. Dr. Thwing enjoys all ages and aspects of primary care and but has a particular interest in newborn and premature medicine, autism and developmental delay, and care of the complex patient. Dr. Thwing recently moved to Durango with his wife Ninna and their three school-aged children and two dogs. They feel blessed to live in Durango and enjoy being in the great outdoors hiking, biking, and skiing
